Ticket aspirants for by-election of one Lok Sabha seat and three Assembly seats have started to contact senior party leaders in BJP as well as in the Congress. They are staking their claim by showing their popularity and influence among masses of their respective areas.
In the meantime, both parties have started to take ground level feedback from their party workers so that accordingly they can plan out by-election strategy. By-polls are to be held to fill vacant Khandwa Lok Sabha seat and three Assembly seats, including Prithvipur (Niwadi), Raigaon (Satna) and Jobat (Alirajpur).
As far as BJP is concerned then State President V D Sharma had a closed door meeting with leaders of Khandwa Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies of Prithvipur, Raigaon and Jobat at party office in Bhopal on Friday. The buzz is this that during deliberation with local leaders hailing from by-election bound seats, he sought panel of names for tickets. Former Minister Archana Chitnis was one of the top leaders to meet VD Sharma. Her name is making strong waves for ticket from Khandwa Lok Sabha seat. Other than her, it is also being said that BJP may ponder to give Khandwa Lok Sabha ticket to stalwart Kailash Vijayvargiya. But most importantly, name of former MP Nandkumar Singh Chouhan’s son Harshwardhan is creating strong ripples for the Khandwa Lok Sabha seat. Nandkumar Singh Chouhan was the sitting MP from Khandwa and died due to corona.
After the meeting, Sharma spoke to waiting mediapersons and told that as by-elections are on anvil hence meeting was held in connection with same. However, he denied that
meeting was in connection to decide the names of candidates. He categorically told that names of candidates in BJP are always finalised by party high command. On the other hand, Congress is claiming that it had long ago did all necessary work regarding by-elections but it seems that it’s also in fix regarding selecting candidates.
