Since ages, people have been following tradition of cooking sweet dish ‘Kheer’ on the night of Sharad Poornima festival under the moonlight and then offering it to the deity. Every year, people from surrounding areas gather in large numbers at the base of Kamadgiri hill on Sharad Poornima night, specially from Bundelkhand area. They secure a place and spend entire night beneath moonlight and cook ‘kheer. People believe that ‘nectar’ falls on earth through rays of moon and hence sweet dish is kept in open to absorb nectar and then offered to deity. Then all takes ‘prasad’ to stay healthy throughout the year. Since thousands of years, people are offering ‘kheer’ to Lord Kamadgiri, praying for health of all family members. Devotees collected wood, cow dung cake, lit the fire and then cook ‘kheer’ in the earthen pot.
