Food Department officials crackdown on adulterators

To check sale of adulterated food products during ongoing festivals, the District Food Department is continuously conducting special drive in the city. Senior officials of the department are carrying out surprise inspection at restaurants and shops, which sale edible products, especially sweets and other milk-made products. Likewise, teams of Food Department conducted drive at several areas of the city and took action against erring shop owners. The officials examined food products and took samples of sweets, snacks and other edible items. Food Security Officer Devki Sonvani informed that following the direction of Collector Karmveer Sharma, Food Department officials conducted surprise inspection of a number of shops in areas including Indira Market, Wright Town, Ranjhi and other areas of the city.
 
They checked quality of food products and conditions in which the edible items were sold. The officials also took samples of suspected products and sent to laboratory for detailed examination. Sonvani said the officials conducted inspection at Sonali Sweets, Bappa Sweets, Popular Momos, Rajwadi Sweets, Chai Shahi Bar, Chai Sutta Bar, Jyoti Kirana, Jyoti General Store, Rasna Restaurant, Mahaveer Sweets and other shops. The Food Security Officer said that in an attempt to mint more money during festive season, shopkeepers general do adulteration in edible products like sweets, snacks etc. The illegal act proves dear to citizens. She said the district administration has warned shopkeepers to shun food adulteration and other such practices or else they would be deal with sternly. Amongst the officials conducted the drive were Pankaj Shrivastava, Madhuri Mishra and others.
