JMC team starts drive to catch stray dogs to control their menace

In order to rid people of stray dog menace, the Health Department of Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has started special drive to catch stray canines from city streets. A team of dog-catchers conducted drive in many areas of the city and caught stray canines. Health Officer of JMC, Bhupendra Singh informed that the department is carrying out the drive following plethora of complaints received from various parts of the city. Citizens have complaint that the stray dogs were chasing and wounding people. Hence taking the complaints seriously the health department conducting the drive. Singh said the team caught a number of stray dogs from different areas.
 
He said the drive would be continued regularly. It may be noted that with rapid increase in population of stray canine, dog bite cases are on rise in the city. Everyday a number of denizens, especially small children have reportedly been wounded by street dogs. Stray dogs are terrifying citizens. People feeling unsafe to walk on city streets as herds of dogs chase pedestrians and motorists too.
 
The terror of street dogs has become so serious that people cannot walk alone on city streets during night hours. People feel feared while returning to their home during night as people know they might wound by pack of street dogs. Despite of the reality and danger which looms large over the denizens, the Health Department of JMC was taking no sincere steps to end stray dogs menace. Hence to awake the civic body from deep slumber, a number of organisations and individual too registered complaints with the Health Department of JMC. Acting on the complaints the JMC has started drive and catching stray canine from city streets.
