A large number of Army personnel and civilians enthusiastically participated in run and cycling organised to mark the World Diabetes Day, on Sunday. World Diabetes Day is observed on November 14 every year to create awareness about the disease. The day itself marks the birthday of Fredcrick Banting who conceived the idea which led to the discovery of insulin in 1922. The theme of the year 2021 is ‘Access to Diabetes Care: If not now, when’. A well organized event was conducted at Jabalpur Military Station to create awareness about the role of a healthy diet and regular physical activity to prevent diabetes. The event activities began from Fitness Planet as group physical activities which included a run, walk and cycling events.
 
The event was flagged off by Lieutenant General S Mohan, SM, VSM, GOC Madhya Bharat Area. More than 300 individuals including ladies and children participated enthusiastically. Later in the evening a Continuing Medical Education programme was conducted at Military Hospital where lecture and deliberations were conducted for the doctors and medical staff. The entire event was well coordinated and managed with the take home message ‘Together We Can Manage Diabetes’.
