LAUGHTER Riders and Runners (LRR) regularly conducts events for promoting cycling. In a recently conducted event, veteran cyclist from the region Ashok Kumar was felicitated. Cyclist from Gondia Ashok Kumar, who has completed many solo trips across the length and breadth of the nation was honoured by NRR, informs NRR Founder Nurul Hak through a press release. Hak urged all to use cycle in day to day life and help to make Nagpur ‘Cycle City’. With his ‘Save Environment’ motto, Ashok Kumar has started it all in early 1980. In 1981, he pedalled whole of Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka.
 
In 1987, he cycled from Gondia-Mumbai-Gujarat-Rajasthan-Uttar Pradesh and returned back to his home town. In 1982 he pedalled from Gondia to Aurangabad. In recent times, in 2019, he started cycling from Gondia to Jammu and Kashmir which is around 1950 km and completed the trip in just 25 days. His next target is to do Gondia-Pune-Lonavala starting December 25. In the felicitation programme, LRR President Kishor Thuteja, Ismail Khan, Mahesh Kewalramani, Girish Sadhwani, Prakash Khemchandani, Mahendra Jassal, Akash Jain, Mangesh, Ashu, Vidhya, Sai, Narendra Chawla, Jitendra Pal Singh were present.
