Birth Anniversary of Pt Jawaharlal Nehru was celebrated at Pt Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College (Pt JNMMC) on Sunday. Dean of Medical College Dr Vishnu Dutt garlanded the statue of Pt Jawaharlal Nehru and paid floral tribute to the first Prime Minister of Independent India. In his address Dr Dutt said Pt. Nehru was architect of modern India. He served the country as Prime Minister for long time and laid foundation store of all round development of country. Dr Arvind Neral, Head of Pathology department informed that on April 16, 1965, Pandit Dwarika Prasad Mishra, Chief Minister of undivided Madhya Pradesh laid foundation stone of Medical College in Raipur. On September 30, 1976 the then Chief Minister Pandit Shyamacharan Shukla inaugurated the Medical College and named after Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
 
Earlier Medical College was conducted at Ayurvedic College. Dr Arvind Neral further informed that Pt JNMMC is the biggest Medical College of State. Doctors who pass-out from the college are serving people nationwide. The college has highest number of seats for MBBS and MD, MS course. BASLP, MSC Medical Biotechnology, DMLT, BSc and MSc Nursing, Physiotherapy, Dental and Dialysis students study and get training. Three course of Super specialty are also conducted in the college. It is worth mentioning that Pt Nehru took birth on November 14, 1889 at Allahabad and Children used to call him Chacha Nehru. His birth anniversary is celebrated all over the country as Children’s Day.
