The hostellers and students of Rani Durgavati University started an indefinite strike from Tuesday for their demands for opening Devendra Boy’s and Kasturba Girl’s Hostels in the students’ interest. The hostellers under the leadership of Somdutt and Surendra Kushwaha also handed over a memorandum to Vice-chancellor, Rani Durgavati University, Professor Kapil Deo Mishra addressing to the Chief Minister, Higher Education Minister and other concerned officers. Through the memorandum they demanded to roll back the increased fee in various departments and hostels and to allow the students to ensure their enrolment to the students who remained deprived of admission, on the vacant seats available in different departments.

They also demanded permission for giving admission to all the students associated with B.P.Ed. and M.P.Ed. at Devendra Hostel. The hostellers received the support of High Court Advocat and State Spokesperson of Legal Cell, Satyendra Joshi and others, who assured to join hands with the hostellers if their genuine demands are not fulfilled by the University administration. Others who participated in the indefinite strike included Vikas Kumar, Ambikesh Singh Chouhan, Mahendra Lanjhewal and other students from both the hostels.
