MAHARASHTRA State Sports Minister Sunil Kedar recently felicitated newly crowned Grandmaster Sankalp Gupta at a function. Kedar lauded the achievement of Gupta and said he has made not only Nagpur but entire country proud by his achievement. Gupta recently three Grandmasters’ norms in a short span of 24 days to become India’s 71st Grandmaster. He achieved all the three norms while playing tournaments in Serbia.

 

He is the second Grandmaster from Nagpur after Raunak Sadhwani. Swapnil Dhopade is the first Grandmaster from Vidarbha. On the occasion, Nagpur Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari, Deputy Director of Sports Shekhar Patil, Raj Bhavan CEO Ramesh Yeole, District Sports Officer Avinash Pund and others were present.
