For complete elimination of cervical cancer by 2030 and marking the first anniversary of WHO Cervical Cancer Elimination Movement, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College and Hospital and Rotary Club Jabalpur jointly organised a mega cervical cancer screening camp on Wednesday. Dean, NSCB Medical College, Dr. Pradeep Kasar inaugurated the mega screening camp and extended best wishes to the organizing committee. Head of Department, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dr. Kavita N. Singh informed that early diagnosis and effective treatment play significant roles in the prevention of cancer. Since last twenty years, the Department continuously organizes the cancer screening and treatment camp. Unfortunately, the event could not be organized since two years due to unprecedented conditions occurred due to COVID-19 pandemic. Once again the department along with Rotary Club of Jabalpur actively initiated the campaign from Wednesday.
 
Dr. Singh continued that once can reduce her risk of developing cervical cancer by having screening tests and receiving vaccine that protects against HPV infection. Experienced doctors including Dr. Geeta Guin, Dr. Archana Singh, Dr. Sonal Sahani and Dr. Keerti Patel rendered their services in the free screening camp with the support of junior doctors including Dr. Nehal Singh, Dr. Shalini, Dr. Ananya, Dr. Ashita, Dr. Rakshita, Dr. Surabhi and others. Rotary Club President, Manu Sharat Tiwari, Secretary, Dr. Jatin Dhiravani, Nitin Pauliwal and Dr. Neha Tiwari gave remarkable co-operation and distributed medicines among the needy ones. Around 100 women enriched themselves with the significant information regarding cervical and breast cancer. Around 50 women underwent PEP and VEA tests and received free medicines.
