As per the instructions issued by Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Prabhakar Tiwari and District Malaria officer Dr Akhilesh Dubey, training was imparted for the prevention and diagnosis of dengue and malaria diseases at the Urban Public Health Centre, Gulabi Nagar on Thursday. Block Medical Officer (BMO) Dr Ashwin Bhambal reviewed the inspection, checking and destruction works of the ASHA workers. Malaria advisor Ruchi Silkari provided information on the symptoms, treatment and prevention of dengue and malaria diseases to the ASHA workers.
 
Along with this, she also briefed them on the methods of conducting the dengue as well as fever surveys. Post this, Malaria Inspector Urmila Singh enlightened the ASHA workers about anti-larval activities and destruction of larva through the Gambusia fish. Vaccination officer Upendra Dubey informed that five health institutions in the city conduct free of cost tests for diagnosing Dengue and suggested getting a test done in case the Dengue symptoms are observed. Notably, AIIMS Hospital, J P Hospital, BMHRC, Hamidia and Bairagarh hospitals conduct free-of-cost dengue tests. He then suggested wearing full sleeved clothes and using coil and sprays to avoid mosquito bites. Evacuate accumulated water from your home and nearby surroundings and cover all vessels containing water so that mosquitoes do not lay eggs in them. These eggs later evolve into adult mosquitoes to become The malaria teams surveyed 1453 houses, by whom, larvae were detected in 80 houses. 343 malaria tests were done in the district, all of which were found negative.
