Aishwarya, Avinash shine at 64th National Shooting C’ship

Star Shooter of MP Shooting Academy and outstanding Olympian Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar gained accolades for the state by clinching gold medals at the shooting events held on Sunday at the 64th National Shooting Championship. Alongside Aishwarya, Shooter of MP Academy Avinash also fared well at the Sunday events to seize the gold medal as well. Both Aishwarya and Avinash won 3 gold medals each under the individual and team events. Elaborating the events held on Sunday, Aishwarya competed in the junior category of 50-meter Rifle 3-position shooting competition. He clocked 152.3 points in Kneeling, 306.8 points in Prone and 459.6 points in standing positions respectively to clinch the gold medal. In the same event, Avinash bagged a silver medal by obtaining 153.2 points in Kneeling, 306.5 points in Prone and 455.2 points in Standing positions. Performing in the individual event of 50-meter Men’s Rifle 3-position shooting competition, Aishwarya stood third by scoring a bronze medal by obtaining 150.1 points in Kneeling, 303.8 points in Prone and 444.4 points in Standing positions. In the men’s team competition of 50-meter 3 position event, the trio comprising of Aishwarya, Goldy Gurjar and Harshit Bijwa captured a gold medal by logging a total of 3516.0 points.
 
The Navy team bagged a silver medal at the event while Haryana team clinched the bronze medal in this event. While competing in the 50-meter 3-posiiton Junior boy’s team event, the trio of Aishwarya, Avinash and Yaqoob Siddiqui emerged as the top scorer by bagging 3483.0 points and laying their hands on the gold medal. Gold medal again fell into MP’s kitty at the 50-m 3-position Men’s civilian team event with the efforts of the team comprising of Goldy, Harshit and Avinash, while in the 50-m 3-position Junior boy’s team civilian event, the MP team fetched a bronze medal. Awards distributed to winners in presence of dignitaries Principal Secretary, MP Tribal and Welfare, Pallavi Jain Govil, Collector Avinash Lavania, STF ADG Vipin Maheshwari, ADG Vijay Kataria and Director, Sports, Ravi Kumar Gupta distributed the prizes to the winners of the competition. Joint General Secretary, Rifle Association of India, Pawan Kumar was invited as the special guest on the occasion. After distribution of prizes, Director, Sports and Youth, Ravi Kumar Gupta presented mementos to all the guests on behalf of the department.
