Dr Varnika Sharma, a well-known social activist and chairperson of Chhattisgarh Initiated Peace Studies and Research Foundation was the guest speaker. On the occasion, Dr Sharma spoke about how to understand suicidal behaviour and to prevent suicidal incidents. “We should be able to recognize the warning signs and take them seriously. We should provide support to someone who is in depression.

We should talk to him openly and honestly about the suicidal thoughts. In such situations, feelings of support can help an individual overcome negative thoughts,” said Vinila Prakash. CG sector has taken several steps to keep troopers stress free by conducting choupal (face to face communication with officers and troopers), improvement in quality of food, infrastructure/accommodation, recreational facilities, established buddy system/peer groups and created grievances redressal mechanisms at various levels, said IG CG Sector CRPF Prakash D while addressing the workshop. Meanwhile, a poster was released for creating awareness about prevention of suicide. The poster will be displayed at each establishment of CRPF in Chhattisgarh.
