Camp held for inmates at Central Jail

Marking World AIDS Day, an awareness camp was organised for inmates’ welfare at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Central Jail (NSCB) on Wednesday following directives issued by the Chairman, District Legal Service Authority. The awareness camp was organised with legal literacy camp held in presence of Secretary, District Legal Service Authority, Manish Singh Thakur, District Legal Aid Officer, Mohammed Jilani, District AIDS Officer, Dr. Dheeraj Dhawande, Nodal Officer, Hepatitis, Dr. KK Verma, Dr. Swati Mukherji, Programme Officer, Madhya Pradesh State AIDS Control Society, Atish Shrivastava and law students. Programme Officer, AIDS Control, Shrivastava talked about prevention and control of AIDS disease while Dr. Dhawande explained about various schemes launched by the government for AIDS patients. Dr. Verma informed about Hepatitis disease which is an inflammatory condition of the liver.
 
District Legal Aid Officer, Jilani provided details about legal assistance given to the inmates by DLSA. Secretary, DLSA, Thakur mentioned about the significant role played by DLSA in implementation of various schemes initiated by the government for AIDS patients and said that for availing benefits of various government schemes, the eligible beneficiaries may approach the Authority for help. Deputy Superintendent, Madan Kamlesh, Jail Doctor, Dr. Laxman Shah, Dr. Ashutosh Agnihotri, Accountant Rahul Chourasia, Lab Technician, Sharda Patel, Subhash Yadav, Counselor Redcross Society, Tej Singh Thakur and other officers. The camp was anchored by Assistant Jail Superintendent, Rakesh Mohan Upadhayay. Later on, District Food and Safety Officer, Sarika Dixit and her team organised an awareness programme for imposing parameters fixed by FSSAI in Jabalpur Central Jail. They conducted physical inspection of various food materials in the jail kitchen and performed chemical testing to check the quality of milk, spices and other edible products in presence of all invited dignitaries during the camp. After finding all food products upto the mark, the District Food and Safety Officer appreciated the jail administration for catering quality food products among inmates and updated inmates about healthy and nutritious diet.
