NGO Green Army of Raipur President Dr Purushottam Chandrakar expressed concerns on the pollution in river Kharun and said cleaning of lifeline of Raipur is a collective responsibility of al the citizens. Green Army of Raipur in association with Paryavaran Mitra carried out plantation & cleaning drive on the banks of river Kharun on Thursday. The green army members planted saplings of trees like Peepal, Banyan, Neem, and Arjun. Green Army members as Dinesh Athwani, Sunil Nayak, Santosh Chandrakar, Padmini Verma, Puneeta Chandra, Seema Singh, Manisha Sharma, Deepa Parganiha, Bharti Sharma, Chanda Yadav, Lalit Kankde, Mahendra Kashyap, professor Anil Chandrakar and large numbers of Paryavaran Mitra. Dr Purushottam said the importance of rivers is clearly expressed in Vedas and Puranas. Dr Chandrakar stressed up on regular cleaning of the river and appealed people not to dump Puja materials in river.
