Congress party honoured Veer Naris, soldiers and the family members of martyred soldiers, who participated in Bangladesh Mukti Sangram, in a function held at state Congress party office Rajiv Bhawan in the State Capital on Sunday. State Congress President Mohan Markam, All India Congress Committee’s Organising Committee of 50th anniversary of the Bangladesh Liberation War Praveen Dabar and Brigadier (Retired) Pradeep Yadu were present on the occasion. The Congress party organised the programme to mark the 50 years of Bangladesh’s independence and the contributions of India’s soldiers in it. Speaking on the occasion, State Congress President Markam said that the contributions of Indian Armed Forces in Bangladesh Liberation War were recalled. Markam said that it was a proud moment for the party to honour the ex-servicemen of Indian Armed Forces.
 
The contributions of Congress leaders Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shastri and Indira Gandhi in Indian freedom movement cannot be forgotten, he added. Praveen Dabar and Brigadier (Retired) Pradeep Yadu also addressed the programme. Colonel Avinash Singh, Arun Kumar Dubey, R P Pandey, VG Tamaskar, Jai Ranjan VK, Sayyad Nijam, Gen Chand, Banwari Lal, S K Jha, Prahlad Sharma, Shankar Sonwani, Abhilash Bahadur Singh, Dev Narayan Sahu, Jagdish Prasad Yadav, Gyan Shankar Mishra, Uma Shankar Sahu, Balvant Singh, Shobhnath Pandey, Gangajal Kuldeep, Dhanna Lal Vadya, Narindar Singh Bal, Baldev Prasad, Deblal Haldhar, Bhandari Ram, Ram Kumar Pandey, Musadilal Sharma and Gyan Shankar Mishra, who participated in the Bangladesh Liberation War, were felicitated in the programme.
 
Veer Naris Sushila Bai, Rukhmani Bai Soni, Premlata Devi, Vimla Sahu, Gauri Bai, Surjeet Kaur, Kamal Verma, Gurucharan Kaur, Kamla Devi, Bal Kumari Thapa, Ravneet Kaur, Mongara Chandrakar, Purnima Devi, Vijaya Pradhan, Ganeshi Madhavi, Keshar Bai Pathak, Sayyada K, Ramdulari Naya, Baishakha Devi, Urmila Sharma, Dharmath, Indira Chauhan, Phulkunwar Mehta, San Bai and Kalpana Yadav were also honoured in the function.
