Raipur Traffic Police on Sunday launched a campaign ‘Suno Raipur’ to create awareness among people about traffic rules and safety protocols to be followed during driving. The campaign was launched by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prashant Agrawal during a programme in Raipur, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Satish Thakur. “Under this campaign, few children, who are supporting traffic police in this initiative, are going to spread the message of adhering to traffic rules among their family members as well as their relatives. In the next move, traffic cops along with some volunteers are going to sensitise people about road safety and traffic rules at public places, prominent squares, signals and other places through separate means,” said the DSP. Similarly, the campaign will be carried out in accidental prone areas falling in rural areas of Raipur.

The officer further informed that around 1.5 lakh people died in the country and over 450 persons in Raipur every year due to road mishaps. The key reasons for road mishaps and deaths are speeding, reckless driving, ignorance towards the use of helmet and seat belt, drunken driving, stunt and others. Meanwhile, the SSP made an appeal from people to adopt a resolution of following traffic rules and road safety protocols on this New Year 2022.
