Panchayat polls: Training of ROs, AROs held

The preparations for the three-tier panchayat elections have gained momentum after the date of election was announced by the Chhattisgarh State Election Commission on December 24. As part of the preparations, a training of Returning Officers (ROs) and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) was conducted at Nirvachan Bhavan through video conferencing on Monday. It was informed that, nomination papers will be filed through Ono software for all the posts except Panch. Therefore, keep all the necessary preparations ready and update. The Covid-19 guidelines should be followed.
 
Three gram panchayats of Baikunthpur district - Phulpur, Vishunpur and Kanchanpur and five gram panchayats of Baderajpur block of district Kondagaon - Vishrampuri ‘A’, Vishrampuri ‘B’, Khargaon, Jirrapara and Birapara will witness general elections. Bye-elections will be held for 03 Zilla Panchayat members, 30 Janpad members, 235 Sarpanch posts and 1807 Panch posts in 1576 Gram Panchayats in single phase. Election notification will be published by the District Election Officer on December 28 following which nominations will be received on December 28. The last date for filing nomination papers is January 3. After this, the names will be on January 4. Scrutiny will be done and nomination papers can be withdrawn till 3 pm on January 6. Voting will be held on January 20 from 7 am to 3 pm. Counting of votes will be done on January 20 followed by counting of votes will be done on January 21. The result of Zilla Panchayat members will be announced on January 24. A total of 18,57,235 voters will vote at 2,228 polling booths. Secretary Rimijuis Ekka, Deputy Secretary Deepak Agrawal, Deputy Secretary Dr Santosh Kumar Agrawal and other senior officers were present in the training programme.
