IT WAS a mixed day for city’s promising shuttler Ritika Thaker while Mugdha Agrey lost her singles match in the ongoing Bangladesh International Challenge 2021 in progress in Dhaka on Friday.

While Ritika recorded a win and a loss, Mugdha was stunned by an unseeded player in the women’s singles competition.

Third seed Mugdha was outsmarted by unseeded Indonesian Bilqis Prasista.

Bilqis was in total control of the match as she took the first game 21-14.

The Nagpur lass, who has been seeded third in the competition, tried hard to take the match till the third game but her Indonesian opponent was too strong as she took the second game and match 21-12.

Ritika and her partner Bokka Navaneeth defeated compatriot Nitin Kumar and Saumya Singh to move into the next round of the mixed doubles. They defeated their opponents 21-17, 21-11 in 24 minutes.

However, it was curtains for Ritika in singles as she went down to fourth seed Ira Sharma 15-21, 14-21 in 27 minutes.
