FORMER champions Young Muslim Football Club (YMFC) thumped Big Ben 7-1 in their third round league match of the ongoing JSW-NDFA Elite Division Championship at Dr BR Ambedkar Football Stadium in Suyog Nagar, north Nagpur on Saturday. Fahad Junaid (20th and 55th), Sagar Kose (27th and 40th), Hafizur Rahman (46th), and Yash Shukla (85th and 88th) scored for the winners while Abhinav Jichkar (76th) netted a consolation goal for the losers. YMFC led 3-0 at half-time.

Fahad started the proceedings in the 20th minute with a solo effort that resulted in first goal of the match. Seven minutes later, Kose’s long drive hit the post and then deflected in after kissing Big Ben goalkeeper Naim’s legs. Five minutes to the break, Kose made it 3-0 on a measured Shahrukh pass. After resumption, Rahman wasted no time and scored fourth for the team in 46th minute. Rahman and Kamran started exchanging passes in a beautiful mix from the half line and the former netted in. Fahad was in the thick of the things once again. In the 55th minute, he saw Naim advancing and decided to shoot, resulting in fifth gal. Jichkar pulled one back for Big Ben. On a good pass by Arjun Roka, Jichkar made no mistake. Shukla scored two in three minutes in the dying moments to make it a one-sided finish. From the half line after collecting a ball from a header, Shukla ran past several defenders to make it 6-1. With two minutes remaining from the scheduled time, Shukla made sure he did not waste a very good pass crossed to him by Kamran. Sunday’s match: SECR vs Ansar FC.
