KAMPTEE outfit Ansar Sporting Club pipped South East Central Railway (SECR) Headquarters 1-0 to record their second win in JSW-NDFA Elite Division Championship under way at Dr BR Ambedkar Football Stadium in Suyog Nagar, north Nagpur on Sunday. After playing an exciting and pacy but goalless first half, Ansar’s hard working centre forward Sohrab Akhtar finally got the reward in 60th minute of play in their third round league match. On a short pass from Rizwan inside the penalty box on the right flank, Sohrab shot from an acute angle beating a charging SECR goalkeeper placing the ball to his right to bulge the net.

The win gave Ansar full three points and now, after two wins from three games, the side has six points in its kitty. SECR wasted more than a couple of scoring opportunities and stay winless from three outings in the top soccer league of the city. Though the match witnessed just one goal, there were no dull moments as players from both the teams tried to give their best. After initial few minutes when the play was restricted to SECR half, the railmen bounced back and fought brilliantly. Even Ansar let go a few opportunities either hitting it wide or over the bar.
