CITY all-rounder Disha Kasat excelled with the willow in her first match to guide India A to a comfortable five-wicket win over India C in the Senior Women’s Cricket Challenger Trophy match at Dr Gokaraju Laila Ganga Raju ACA Cricket Complex-DVR Ground, Mulapadu, Vijayawada on Sunday. In response to India C’s 205 all out in 47.1 overs, India A achieved the target (206) in 46.1 overs losing five wickets. Coming at number four when the team was 45-2 in 16.1 overs, Disha (53; 70b, 6x4) steadied the ship. She played strokes on both sides of the wicket and was not afraid of even going over the top. First she took the total to 80 with CH Jhansi Lakshmi (32; 69b, 5x4) and later had an important association with skipper Sneh Rana (59; 75b, 7x4).

 

The duo added 71 runs for the fourth wicket before Disha was stumped by Sweta having missed the line of spinner C Prathyusha. Simran Dil Bahadur (23*; 14b, 3x4, 1x6) played a little cameo as India A romped home. Earlier, electing to bat, India C were in spot of bother (6-41). But Radha Yadav (82; 98b, 10x4) and Prathyusha (63; 74b, 8x4) responded well with fifties to take the team to something respectable. For India A, Sneh and Simran picked three wickets apiece for 32 and 37 runs respectively. Disha bowled just one over and conceded five runs. In their next match, India A play India D at the same venue on December 7.
