Dramas propagating a serious message for concern towards the environment and the planet were staged at the Shadow Box Festival, 2021 on Sunday. Notably, the festival is being celebrated to mark the 20th anniversary of Shadow Box and the Sunday performances were staged specially for children. The R2G2 drama was staged in Sunday’s performance, which was brought forth by Dhanendra Kavande from Balaghat. Prior to the staging of the drama, he shed light on the details of the drama and stated, “All of us wear clothes of different colours, but a chameleon does not wear anything and changes its colours according to environment.”

He further said, “Severe torture is being inflicted on environment, following which the environment and ecosystem are giving in.” He then underlined the concept of global warming and informed that the protagonist of the play, named Gittu Girgit (chameleon named Gittu) wants to add colours to the ecosystem again and makes relevant efforts for the same. The play R2G2 then commenced, which revolved around the protagonist Gittu Girgit, who aspires to be a painter and wants to paint the entire world according to his own color scheme, but then realises that he is short of adequate colours. After some time, he realises that nature has already provided him and the other elements of the ecosystem with adequate quantity of colours and now, it is their responsibility to paint the nature according to their needs. Gittu does not preach anyone to conserve the ecosystem, instead, wants to restore earth to its original form, which is his only mission. The 50 minute long play was written and directed by Kavande himself.
