Former minister Kamleshwar Patel has raised question over the proposed Panchayat elections by stating that Shivraj government wants to change Panchayat elections into party (based) elections. He said that it’s beyond understanding that no reason was cited for abolishing delimitation of panchayats. Addressing the press conference at Congress office on Monday, Kamleshwar Patel said that by ignoring the sentiments of constitution and Panchayat Raj, State Government adopted arbitrary attitude in announcing Panchayat elections. He claimed that even Panchayats do not know that delimitation has been abolished. Without arrangements, elections have been declared and new voters have been deprived of their voting rights.

He added that Governor can bring ordinance only on those subjects on which state government has the right to make law. He claimed that ordinance cannot be brought to change the provisions of constitution. He alleged that Panchayat elections are being conducted unconstitutionally and if any one who goes to court against the election process then Congress will support him. If election takes place then Congress will not back track as Congress workers will take part in it. He was of the view that abolition of delimitation and reservation done by previous Kamal Nath government was totally wrong. Former Minister P C Sharma and Congress General Secretary J P Dhanopia also addressed the mediapersons.
