striker Zishan Akhtar scored four goals including a hat-trick as Ansar Club, Kamptee drubbed Nagpur Academy Football Club 8-2 in the fourth round of the JSW-NDFA Elite Division Championship. It rained goals at Dr BR Ambedkar Football Stadium in Suyog Nagar in north Nagpur as Ansar Club scored three goals in first half and then pumped in five more in the second session to hand NAFC their biggest defeat of the tournament. Mohd Owais Ashraf (12th), Zishan Akhtar (32nd, 42nd, 65th, 79th), Mohd Rizwan (68th), Fuzail Pasha (73rd) and Mohd Mustajab Ashraf (85) scored goals at will for Ansar Club. For NAFC, Abhishek Doifode (43rd) and Arshad Ghanchi (58th) reduced the margin. With his four goals which included first hat-trick of the competition, Zishan emerged joint top scorer so far with four goals to his name. Young Muslim Football Club’s Fahad Junaid and NAFC’s Abhishek Doifode are the other players to score four goals each till now in the competition.

The thumping win put Ansar Club at the joint top spot with nine points. YMFC, who have played a game less than NAFC, are sitting atop with three out of three wins. It was ‘slaughter of lambs’ on Tuesday afternoon as Ansar Club looked in a punishing mood. The forwards— Zishan, Mohd Owais Ashraf, Fuzail Pasha and Sharique Anwar were unstoppable as they weaved brilliant attacking moves. Midfielder Mohd Rizwan was instrumental in most of the goals that Ansar scored as his calculated and accurate long passes helped the strikers breach the fragile NAFC defence. The defence line of NAFC looked clueless. Aazam Khan, Steven Machado, Mohd Siraj and Mohd Naqi-ur Rahman were too slow for the nibble-footed Ansar forwards. If Ansar scored only three goals in the first 45 minutes, they were more ruthless in the second half. They were energetic and full of stamina and never looked jaded in the entire duration of the match. On the other hand, NAFC looked tired huffing and puffing as Ansar boys continued their domination in the entire match. On Wednesday: Qidwai FC vs SECR at 2.30 pm.
