Arunita Mukherjee, a research student of the Department of Pure and Applied Physics under the School of Physical Sciences of Guru Ghasidas Central University (GGCU), bagged the first prize in the country for her research in the field of nuclear structure. During the 65th Symposium on Nuclear Physics, sponsored by the Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences, Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India held in Mumbai from November 30 to December 05, this year Arunita Mukherjee received her award in poster presentation on the topic of Octopole Correlations and Gamma-Vibrational Bands in 72-Selenium Nucleus. Arunita is doing research under the direction of Assistant Professor Dr Tarakeswar Trivedi of Physics Department who is a well-known name in the country in the field of Experimental Nuclear Physics.

 

Dr Trivedi has done his doctorate from Wiseman Institute of Science, Israel and Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai. Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Alok Kumar Chakrawal congratulated Arunita Mukherjee on the success and described it as a proud moment for GGCU. He said that this achievement of Arunita would prove to be an inspiration for the students who are currently doing research in the field of Physics. The 3MV Accelerator Center located in the university will inspire young researchers like Arunita to research established facts in nuclear physics. The Vice Chancellor presented a book related to the life teachings of Vivekananda to Arunita and said that all of us should focus on the goal as well as try to achieve it with full devotion and dedication. Congratulating Dr Trivedi, the Vice Chancellor encouraged him to make GGCU proud on the national and international stage. Arunita and team have done research in Laboratory of Indian National Gamma Array of IUAC, New Delhi.
