Madhya Pradesh attained only 46 per cent on Day 2 of the second phase COVID-19 vaccination programme held on Wednesday. Frontline workers are being administered vaccine against coronavirus in the phase 2 of the vaccination programme. Against a target of 1,12,937 doses to be administered across the state, only 51,417 frontline workers were inoculated.

As many as 17,695 shots of corona vaccine were to be given in the state capital at 76 inoculation centres on Wednesday. Of which only 4,204 were given shots and this roughly sums up to 24 per cent of the total. Owing to most vaccination centres, maximum shots in state were given in Bhopal district followed by Dindori, where at least 1,119 healthcare workers were vaccinated against a target of 1,422.

The low turnout of the beneficiaries of corona vaccine is a concern for the health department and should emphasise more on spreading awareness among the citizens about the vaccine. At least 141 COVID-19 cases and two fatalities came to the fore in Madhya Pradesh, according to a state health bulletin issued on Wednesday. With the Wednesday numbers, the infection tally in the state rose to over 2.56 lakhs and the death toll to 3,827, it said. The total coronavirus cases mounted to 2,56,899 with 141 infections being reported in a day. Madhya Pradesh’s coronavirus figures are as follows: Total cases 2,56,899, active cases 1,951, new cases 141, total deaths 3,827, discharged 2,51,121, number of people tested so far 55,12,312.
