Two Naxalites were killed in an encounter between Madhya Pradesh’s Mandla police and Naxalites in Motinallah Police Station area of the district bordering Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Two Naxalites, including a woman, were gunned down in a fierce encounter by the police. Police have also recovered weapons from them. Both these Naxalites are said to be members of Kanha Bhoramdeo Bodla Committee. Superintendent of Police Yashpal Rajput informed that two Maoists, aged between 25 to 30 years, died in an encounter with the police. The encounter started around 7 pm on Friday and continued intermittently till Saturday dawn, he informed.
 
Police fired around 150 rounds in self-defence, while as many shots came from Naxals, he added. District and Hawk Force personnel were also a part of the operation. ADG Venkateswara Rao is leading the operation. Three arms have been recovered from the Naxalites. SLR, 303 rifle, 315 bore weapon. A heavy police force is still deployed on the spot and is carrying out action. For the first time Naxalites have been killed in Mandla district.
 
In Mandla district, presence of Naxalites is prevalent in jungles since a long time. Naxalites flee after committing minor incidents. Police and Naxalite encounters have taken place in the district in the past, but for the first time police achieved success in killing them. Recently, CRPF battalion has been deployed in Mandla district. Since then, operation of the district and Hawk Force has gained strength and with more energy, the force is now engaged in action.
