Delhi girl killed in road mishap on Wardha Road

A young girl was killed and her friend sustained grievous injuries when a truck hit their two-wheeler on Wardha road in the wee hours of Saturday, Beltarodi police officials said. Both were riding without helmet. Deceased Ritika Manohar Vedwal (27), a native of Shardapuri, New Delhi, was living in rented accommodation at Vrindavan city, Jamtha. She was pursuing LLB from a college in Nagpur. Her friend Ashish alias Goldi Sanjay Umre (30), a resident of Plot No. 162, near Kamal talkies, Ashok Nagar, who was riding the two-wheeler (DL-6/ASB-9625) was seriously injured in the accident. He is software engineer. According to police, Ashish and Ritika were heading towards Vrindavan city on the two-wheeler at 12.30 am.
 
The accident occurred in front of Central Institute For Cotton Research (ICAR). The police are suspecting that the truck was overtaking the two-wheeler and brushed against it. As a result, the two fell on the road and Ritika came under the rear wheels of the truck. Her head was crushed under the wheels in front of Ashish. She died instantaneously. Staff of Beltarodi police station rushed to the spot after receiving information from Police Control Room. Ritika’s body was sent for post-mortem and Sanjay was admitted to the hospital. Ashish is under deep shock after the accident and unable to even speak normally. A few years ago, Ashish was working with a company in Delhi.
 
Since then, Ashish and Ritika were friends. The two went for shopping on Friday night. After buying grocery material, they had dinner in the city. Ashish was going to leave Ritika at her flat when the accident occurred. The Beltarodi police have informed Ritika’s family. The family is expected to arrive city late Saturday night. An offence under Sections 304 (a), 337 of Indian Penal Code read with Sections 134, 177 of Motor Vehicle Act was registered by Beltarodi police.
