Money-lender Dekate brothers booked for demanding ransom of Rs 50 lakh from property dealer

Accused abducted the victim and forced him to sign on blank stamp papers
 
One more offence of extortion and cheating was registered against money-lender Dekate brothers. The Dekate brothers recovered Rs 14.91 lakh by lending Rs 10 lakh to a property dealer. Even after this, they were eyeing the car and property of the victim. They abducted the victim and forced him to sign the blank stamp papers and vehicle transfer forms. Now, they were threatening the victim for Rs 50 lakh, police officials said. According to Rana Pratap Nagar Police, on the basis of complaint lodged by victim Sikandarsinh Chandan Singh Sandhu (40), a resident of Plot No 144, Shastri Layout, an offence was registered against Rakesh Dekate (40), a resident of Old Sneh Nagar, Wardha road, his brother Mukesh Dekate and two others. Sandhu is a property dealer. He borrowed Rs 10 lakh from Dekate in 2010.
 
Within a year, Sandhu had returned Rs 14.91 lakh to Dekate. Even after this, Rakesh was asking him for interest. In January, he kidnapped Sandhu from the Sneh Nagar campus and took him to a deserted place in a car where his brother Mukesh and two others were present. Sandhu was assaulted by the accused there. They took signature and thumb impression of Sandhu on blank stamp papers and TTO forms.
 
Using these papers, the accused hatched a conspiracy to grab two acres land of Sandhu located in Wela Hari area. But Sandhu realised the fraud. The accused have sold car of Sandhu to a third person and also filed a case in the court, but the verdict came in favor of Sandhu. After this, Dekate brothers started threatening Sandhu.
 
They abused Sandhu in front of his hosue and demanded Rs 50 lakh. After a complaint filed by builder Manohar Dani, Sandhu also mustered his courage and lodged a complained with Pratap Nagar Police. An offence under Sections 384, 386, 364 (a), 468, 469, 471, 420, 506 (b), 323 and 34 of Indian Penal Code read with Sections 43, 44, 45 and 46 of The Maharashtra Money-Lending (Regulation) Act, 2014 was registered against the accused. Earlier, a case was registered against Dekate brothers including Manoj Sabane and Madan Kale at the Dhantoli police station on February 6. The accused were already under police custody. After their custody was ended on Saturday, the police produced them in the court and obtained two-days police custody.
