A jewellery shop owner of Raipur was arrested by Mumbai Police and taken to Maharashtra on Saturday. The jeweller was arrested on the charges of criminal breach of trust. According to Raipur City Kotwali Police, a team of Thane Police Station had come to Raipur in search of jewellers Aakash Soni and Darshan Soni on Saturday. The duo runs a jewellery shop by the name of Sonika Jewellers at Sadar Bazaar, Raipur.
 
The Thane Police approached City Kotwali Police, which assisted their counterparts from Maharashtra in the operation. The joint team of Thane Police and Raipur City Kotwali arrested Aakash Soni while his brother Darshan Soni managed to escape. Thane Police informed that Aakash Soni and Darshan Soni had bought jewelleries worth Rs 4.50 lakh in Mumbai from one businessman named Ritesh Jain, but never made the payment for the same.
 
As a result, Mumbai-based businessman Nitesh Jain lodged a complaint with the Thane Police and an FIR was registered under Sections 409 and 34 of Indian Penal Code against the two brothers. Mumbai Police arrived in Raipur at around 3 pm and arrested Aakash Soni from his shop. At the same time, his brother Darshan Soni got wind of the situation and he managed to give Mumbai Police and City Kotwali Police a slip.
