Alif and Kabir Cafe music band captivates Valentine’s Day mood at drive-in music fest

The Great Indian Film and Literature Festival (GIFFLIF) is organising a drive-in music festival for the first time in the city. On Sunday, two-day concert witnessed performance of Nitesh-Rajesh Collective, Urdu-Kashmiri band Alif and the Kabir Cafe Band with rockstars Kabir and Neeraj February 14 at the Shyamal Hills. Neeraj Arya’s Kabir Cafe is a Indian folk fusion band known for performing songs composed out of Saint Kabir’s Dohas. Kabir Cafe aims to ensure that the verses of poet and Saint Kabir Das are accessible to the rest of the world.
 
Do Din Ki Zindagi Hai, Muniya Pinjare Wali, Ghat Ghat Mein Panchhi Bolta Hai, Halke Gaadi Haako are very popular among music lovers. The Kabir Cafe Band performed six songs for especially prepared for this occasion of Valentine day Music fest. Alif is the band is one of the few Indie acts in the country that creates songs in Koshur, one of the dominant languages spoken in Kashmir.
 
Their song, Ride Home raises concerns that artists have in the Valley, where livelihood is a struggle and spaces to perform are limited. It is one of the band’s most popular songs with over 2.5 million hits on YouTube. The performances by these young bands able to captivate love atmosphere on Valentine’s Day. Mostly couples were seen enjoying the drive-in music concert which was organised for the first time in Bhopal city. The event is being organised by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, State Directorate of Culture, MP Trade and Investment Facilitation Corporation.
