Madhya Pradesh team bags one silver and one bronze medal in the championship
 
Madhya Pradesh won two medals including a silver and a bronze in the 8th National Open Athletics Race Walk Championship held at Ranchi on February 13 and 14. Komal Pal, a player of Madhya Pradesh State Athletics Academy, won a silver medal in the 10 kilometres race walking girls’ U18 event. She won this medal by finishing the event in 55 minutes and 04 seconds. Similarly, state academy’s Bajrangi Prajapati won a bronze medal in the 10 kilometres race walking boys’ U20 event.
 
Prajapati finished the event in 44 minutes and 16 seconds and clinched the medal. Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare, Yashodhara Raje Scindia congratulated both athletes who won a medal at the National Race Walk Championship. Scindia appreciated both Komal’s and Bajrangi’s efforts put in the race, adding that, academy’s athletes are brining glories to the state by winning medals at national level events.
 
Director, Sports and Youth Welfare, Pawan Jain expressed happiness on players winning medals for the state. Notably, both these medal winning athletes are getting trained under the guidance of academy’s chief coach SK Prasad and assistant coach Govind Jaat.
