Different activities are being organised to sensitise people on road safety and traffic rules as part of the ongoing Road Safety Month. However, Monday had a special event unlike other days as commuters witnessed live action scene like Bollywood films. How a woman inside an auto-rickshaw can protect herself by fighting the goons was displayed by self defence export Harsha Sahu.

 

The event was shot to make women aware about self defence and taught them how to use common items such as pins, bangle, pens, scarf, mobile and nails, teeth, elbows etc. as weapons in case of emergency. To illustrate this scene, the crane lifted auto and all the stunts were done in it. Mohseen Shaikh ‘killed’ the self-defense expert playing the role of anti-social elements and conveyed the message to the people.

 

The event took place at most happening locations of the city such as Jaistambh Chowk, Marine Drive, Budha Talab etc. Efforts were made to reach out to as many women as possible. Simultaneously, traffic rules were also made aware. DSP Satish Thakur said that often at the intersection, complaints of molesting women in autos are received. This event was organised in association with Traffic Police and Tejaswini Foundation People appreciated the efforts. Additional SP M R Mandavi appealed to everyone to help the police in every possible way to prevent such incidents and told all auto drivers that the safety of the woman traveling in their car is also the responsibility of the drivers. To make the event a success, the entire team of Tejaswini Foundation organised the event and made people aware of the presence of Additional S P Mandavi, DSP Traffic Satish Thakur.
