To ensure quick isolation of patients infected by coronavirus and also facilitate faster contact tracing, Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishnan B has instructed Government and private accredited laboratories to provide test report within 24 hours. Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has activated its machinery with a view to break the virus chain and quick know how about COVID-19 status is key to it. Hence, Radhakrishnan B has desired early test report as same would also help in cutting down delay in treatment of patients.
 
Regarding the daily increasing number of COVID-19 patients, the Municipal Commissioner organised a special meeting of doctors of all Government and private labs in the city on Monday in the ‘Corona War Room’ at the civic headquarters. Additional Commissioners Jalaj Sharma, Ram Joshi, Sanjay Nipane, Dr Sanjay Chilkar, Dr Narendra Bahirwar, Medical Health Officers, and Vijay Joshi, Assistant Medical Health Officer, were also present. Timely treatment of a corona-infected patient with symptoms is essential. But those who have no symptoms can be dangerous to others. Therefore, if the corona report is received early, it will be possible to take necessary action regarding the treatment and segregation of the patients concerned.
 
The Municipal Commissioner also directed laboratories to gear up in this regard. “It is mandatory to take the full address and mobile number of each person coming for the test. If the address is not accurate, there will be no contact tracing of the patient concerned and the number of patients will continue to increase. Therefore, Municipal Commissioner appealed citizens to mention their exact address and mobile number so as to avoid problem in contact tracing. Employees working at the NMC’s COVID-19 Testing Centres must ensure that they jot down full address of the citizens coming for tests. 
 
Fine imposed on Tukaram Hall owner for overcrowding Officials of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) initiated action against owner of a hall where overcrowding was observed during a marriage function. A team of Nuisance Detection Squad (NDS) slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on owners of Tukaram Sabhagruha, Narendra Nagar, Ring Road, for violation of COVID-19 norms whereby limit of invitees is restricted to just 50 guests. While the hall owner was fined Rs 5,000, the family which had booked the place was also fined Rs 5,000 for violating the undertaking relating to invited guests.
 
As per the instructions of the Municipal Commissioner, the action was taken under the guidance of Chief of Violence Investigation Squad Veersen Tambe, while the team was led by Narhari Birkad and Arvind Ladekar of Dhantoli Zone. On February 16 that is Vasant Panchami is considered most auspicious occasion for marriage and hence nearly all the halls in city are booked and NDS teams would fan out and ensure that COVID-19 norms are strictly adhered to. With COVID-19 patients increasing steadily and marriage functions getting over-crowded, the civic establishment has decided to renew push for simplicity and to ensure compliance, they have started imposing fines. However, now the action for violation of invitees norm would include sealing of the Hall, the Municipal Commissioner has warned.
