Moderate rainfall expected in Chhattisgarh today
 
 
IN a sudden twist to the daylong hot conditions, cool winds accompanied with dust storm brought down the mercury level and transformed the evening into pleasant environment. Though Raipur recorded 25 per cent cloud cover no rainfall was recorded. The impact of cool conditions was also visible in many areas across State with Bilaspur division recording a significant fall in temperature.
 
Pendra Road recorded 15mm rainfall followed by Ambikapur receiving 6.8 mm rainfall on Tuesday. However, with no showers, Durg and Rajnandgaon recorded 33.6 degree Celsius and 33.0 degrees respectively, which was three notched above the normal maximum temperature. In its forecast, MeT Centre intimated of a strong wind discontinuity in the lower levels over Central India with moisture inflow from Bay of Bengal on Tuesday.
 
The condition is likely to move South westward and persist till February 18. Under its influence light to moderate rainfall is expected at a few places with isolated thunderstorm, lightning and hail over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh on February 17. Meanwhile, thunderstorm and hail is likely at some places in the northern part of State on February 17. The sky will be partly cloudy with thunderstorm and light rainfall expected at few areas in Raipur on Wednesday.
