Taking a cue from Sidhi bus tragedy, Transport Minister Govind Singh Rajput himself hit the roads to do checking of passenger buses on the outskirts of Bhopal on Thursday. Govind Singh Rajput checked around two dozen passenger buses on Bhopal Hoshangabad road and Bhopal Raisen road respectively. During inspection, fitness certificates of six buses were cancelled on spot itself. Moreover, eleven buses were seized for violating set norms.

 

To ensure that no passenger of seized buses should face any problem, Govind Singh Rajput made an arrangement to ferry passengers till their destination. Challan was issued to five buses for violating permit, overcrowding and in want of proper documents. On Bhopal-Hoshangabad route, Minister Rajput checked permit, fitness certificate, PUC etc of buses. He also checked passenger ticket as well. In some of the checked buses, emergency gate was found damaged and there were no fire safety measures, first aid box etc. Bus (MP-09 FA-5355) expired medicines were found in first aid box and fire extinguisher was found to be out of date.

 

Hence, its fitness certificate was cancelled. Bus (MP 04 P 263) was confiscated as its fitness certificate was not in sync with norms and its driver and conductor were not having license. Bus (MP 04 PA 1741) was seized as its driver failed to furnish desired documents and tickets were not given to passengers. Transport Minister Govind Singh Rajput said that those bus owners who are running buses in violation of norms should surrender their license and permit. He said that action against vehicles violating norms will continue regularly. On this occasion, Additional Commissioner Transport Arvind Saxena, RTO Bhopal Sanjay Tiwari, RTO Hoshangabad Manuj, RTO Vidisha Girjesh Verma, RTO Raisen Ritesh Tiwari etc were present.
