NDS imposes fines on owners of 4 marriage halls 
 
In view of spike in COVID-19 positive cases, now permission of Zonal Officer of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is mandatory for organising marriage and functions in hall and lawns. Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishnan B on Thursday issued a modified order relating to requirement of permission from Zonal Assistant Commissioners for any sort of function. Since, ultimately responsibility of health rests with civic body, Municipal Commissioner invoked power vested with him under Disaster Management Act to direct organisers to take permission from Zonal Offices.
 
NMC has 10 Zonal Offices spread across city and Municipal Commissioner the other day had capped invitees numbers in marriages and functions in closed spaces to 50 persons and to 25 of capacity of 100 persons which is less in open spaces. During booking of hall or auditoriums, the organisers have to seek permission from respective police station. Now in addition, NMC has invoked its authority to ensure that norms in-charge for looking after halls, lawns must take prior permission from Assistant Commissioners before organising any activity at their establishments.
 
They will have to submit an undertaking that they would ensure that all COVID-19 norms relating to capping of invitees, wearing of masks, maintenance of social distancing and use of sanitizers will be followed in toto. Cook Positive: A cook with Pizza Hut outlet in city, it is located at Shradhnandpeth, has tested positive for COVID-19 sending shock waves among the food industry in city. The NMC officials acting swiftly sealed the establishment and ordered that it would remain shut for seven days. G M Rathod, Assistant Commissioner, Laxminagar Zone, and Zonal Health Officer, visited the food joint and oversaw its sealing.
 
The food joint was quite popular with youngsters and families and off late with carefree atmosphere in city, the footfalls were also increasing. Action on Four Marriage Halls: Nuisance Detection Squad (NDS) on Thursday imposed fines on owners of four marriage halls for violation of COVID-19 guidelines. Today, civic team inspected 88 halls located in different parts of city. A fine of Rs 35,000 was collected from the four halls. Action was taken on Emporium Hall, near Besa Power House at Mahalgi Nagar Square, under Nehru Nagar Zone, Satvachan Lawn at Wardhaman Nagar, under Lakadganj Zone, Jagat Celebration Lawn at Power Grid Square under Asi Nagar Zone and Govind Lawn on Godhni Road under Mangalwari Zone. In all the zones, more than the prescribed capacity of invitees was found and fines were recovered. A fine of Rs 15,000 each was immediately recovered from Emporium Hall and Jagat Celebration Lawn. A notice for fine of Rs 15,000 was issued to Manager at Sat Vachan Lawn while fine of Rs 5,000 was recovered from Govind Lawn.
