Patients in home isolation to be stamped to ensure compliance with isolation guidelines

In a bid to put break on transmission of COVID-19 as the pandemic is again rearing its head with daily surge in number of positive cases, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has now put restriction on funeral procession. Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishnan B post meeting of top officials of Revenue Department with Divisional Commissioner has now issued a fresh notification on Friday saying not more than 20 persons would be present in funeral procession. As the case load is increasing at faster rates, administrative machinery is wary of last year scenario and hence trying to put brakes so that people do not throw caution to wind. Municipal Commissioner said people should compulsorily use masks, maintain social distance and use sanitizers.

There is a ban on presence of more than 20 persons in funeral procession as administration is keen to break the transmission chain before situation goes out of hand. Stamping: Also in view of violation of home isolation protocol, NMC has said that COVID-19 positive patients will henceforth be stamped on back side of their left hand palm. Zonal Assistant Commissioner and Zonal Health Officers are tasked with handling the stamping. The decision stemmed after four home quarantine persons were found taking stroll in garden in Narendra Nagar area. The violation did not go down well with administrative machinery as the patients put others at risk when the case load is causing increasing worries in all quarters.

With stamping, it would be easier to know that a person is to be under home isolation and in quarantine till his test returns negative. Restrictions on Hotels: Looking at large crowd gathering at eatery and indulging in celebrations by throwing all caution to wind, Municipal Commissioner has also put restrictions in restaurants, hotels and eatery to 50 per cent of their capacity. At no time, those present in eating houses should not be more than 50 per cent of sanctioned capacity. Also all other required measures relating to COVID-19 protocol should be followed in toto by the establishments. Although the situation on ground is slowly turning critical, the crowd in market places and commercial establishments is increasing manifold.
