BJP Mahila Morcha stages mega dharna, submits memo to Governor Uikey

Do not underestimate the Matri Shakti (women power), as it has been instrumental in creating history, Member of Parliament Saroj Pandey said that the daughters have become so much unsafe in State that today they have come together to script a protest demanding security to lead a normal lifestyle. The BJP Mahila Morcha staged a mega dharna - Matri Shakti Swabhiman Morcha on Saturday, against rising crime against women. MP Pandey said that girls and women of all age are under threat and no part of State is safe for them. She, however, added that whenever the Matri Shakti comes together for a cause, it brings justice. She said that the right time has come to give a befitting reply to the ruling Congress Government under whose rule atrocities are being meted against women.

All the Mahila Morcha workers along with MP Saroj Pandey took pledge that they will not allow the ruling Congress Government to come into power twice in State. They said that they are taking pledge today by tying knots in their saris and will open the knot only when the Congress Government is uprooted. BJP Mahila Morcha State In-charge Lata Usendi while addressing the gathering said that the mega dharna is not only to spread public awareness regarding the gradual increase in crime against women, but it is also being carried out to wake up State Government which is in slumber. She said that the ruling Congress Government is virtually enjoying power and doing nothing else.

It has no concern about the safety and security of the women in the state, so much so that some Ministers term atrocities against women are trivial issues. The ruling Congress, which came to power in the name of complete liquor prohibition, is encouraging illicit liquor trade instead, which is why crime against women is increasing gradually. She asked the former AICC President Rahul Gandhi to answer about crime against women and illicit liquor trade in Chhattisgarh. BJP Mahila Morcha President Shalini Rajput said that the mega dharna - Matri Shakti Swabhiman Morcha, which was staged across State on Saturday, received good response from every district. She said that the BJP Mahila Morcha will continue to carry out its agitation till the ruling Congress Government orders proper and impartial investigations in the cases of crime against women. She said that the Mahila Morcha will continue to work for the pride of Matri Shakti. When the Mahila Morcha workers started to rally for submitting a memorandum to the Governor from the dharna sthal, police stopped them by barricading the road near Sapre School and at that moment there was scuffle between the police and Mahila Morcha workers.

Seeing the stiff opposition of the police, the Mahila Morcha workers led by MP Saroj Pandey sat on the road on dharna. Thereafter, the police and administration convinced them by allowing a 14 member delegation to visit the Raj Bhavan for a meeting with the Governor. The delegation also included family members of the rape victim from Korba.
