One killed, three injured as car crashes into road divider near Law College sq

A YOUNG girl was killed while her brother and two cousins injured, two of them seriously, after the speeding car they were travelling in crashed into a divider near Surabhi Girls’ Hostel near Law College Square on Amravati Road in the small hours of Saturday.
 
The deceased, Barkha Harish Khurana (24) was a resident of Shanti Nagar. Her younger brother (23) and Prem Ashok Chandnani (20) were injured. Lucky Khurana and Riya Khurana, who suffered serious injuries, were rushed to Neuron Hospital, Dhantoli. A resident of LG-29, VHB Colony, Shanti Nagar, Prem Chandnani, Lucky, Riya and Barkha had gone to a restaurant on Amravati Road on Friday night. After enjoying dinner, they were returning home in a Maruti Swift car (MH-28/AN-1726) around 1 am on Saturday. Prem was driving the car at a high speed.
 
A few metres from Law College Square near Surabhi Girls’ Hostel, Prem lost control of his car and crashed into a road divider. After the crash, the car overturned killing Barkha on the spot and injuring Lucky and Riya seriously. Prem also sustained minor injuries. Staff from Ambazari Police Station led by WPSI S B Sonwane visited the spot. After injured were rushed to Neuron Hospital, cops sent Barkha’s body for post-mortem. Ambazari Police registered a case under Sections 279, 304 (A), 337, 338 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code against Prem Chandnani.
