The players of Madhya Pradesh Water Sports Academy bagged a total of nine medals, including six gold and three silver medals, on first day of the 31st National Kayaking Canoeing Sprint Championship held at Lower Lake in Bhopal on Saturday. The players bagged these medals in different events of 1,000 metre race. Academy’s Kaveri Dheemar won a gold medal in the girls’ C-1 category of championship.
 
Another gold medal was clinched in the C-2 girls’ category by the duo of Kaveri Dheemar and Shivani Verma. The team of Astha Dangi and Shivkanya Verma bagged a gold medal in the K-2 event of the girls’ category. In K-4 event, academy’s Astha Dangi and Niharika Jaiswal with Deepali Hooda (SAI) and Savita Yadav (association) won a gold medal. Similarly, in the K-1 event in the boys’ category, academy’s Balvir Jat finished first in the race and won the gold medal.
 
While in the K-2 event, the duo of Balvir Jat and Devendra Singh grabbed a gold medal Devendra Sen won a silver medal in the C-1 event of the boys’ category while in the C-2 event, the duo of Sonu Verma and Yogesh won another silver medal. Academy’s players Akshit Baroi, Devvrat Singh, Nitin Verma and Shivom Yadav won a medal silver in K-4 event.
