In an act of paying back to the foundation that helped Adv Abhijit Wanjari to reach State Legislature, he got sanctioned Rs 50 crore from Maharashtra Government. The money will be used for the centenary celebrations of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU). RTMNU will start the celebrations next year. Adv Abhijit Wanjari who created history when he won Nagpur Graduates’ Constituency polls that was stronghold of Bharatiya Janata Party, has started his tours the very next day of his victory.

Apart from his hard work, the credit of his success goes to the foundation he built in university. He stayed in the meeting convened by Ajit Pawar till last minute. It was the meeting of all the six districts. Every representative was leaving the meeting after the agenda of his or her district was over. But Pawar saw Adv Wanjari sitting till last minute. Pawar later realised Adv Wanjari represented all the six districts. In that meeting, Adv Wanjari put the proposal and Pawar immediately sanctioned the amount of Rs 50 crore. Result of Graduates’ polls in Nagpur was out on December 4 and very next day Adv Wanjari was out to thank the voters and chalk out a plan. On December 8, 2020, after he took oath as a member of Legislative Council, it was the same Ajit Pawar who admired him before several stalwarts. Pawar said, “He is the guy who broke the jinx and clinched victory in Graduates’ polls.”

“I met people. I had a round mostly of rural area where people gave me rousing welcome. People took out rallies. It was a fantastic feeling. I met all the leaders of our party in Nagpur and took their blessings. When I went to Mumbai I met Balasaheb Thorat, Ashok Chavan, Prithviraj Chavan and many more others. In Delhi also I visited K C Venugopal, Mohan Prakash. Of course meeting people of our constituency was more enchanting and made me feel satisfied,” elaborated Adv Wanjari. Now, he is planning to start an interaction programme with youngsters. “I have planned to start the programme from Chandrapur that would be held at February 26. Of course all will depend on the corona situation. If Government says no then we would have to wait. Even if the gatherings banned, I keep working following all the norms. But I think something concrete should be done for today’s youths.” Many leaders who met Adv Wanjari admitted that they did not expect his victory. That was expected by Adv Wanjari. He remained a low-profile candidate throughout the elections.

Adv Wanjari may not forget those ‘five’ mins “Meeting with Pawarsaheb was the one that I would love to preserve. I got an appointment at 9.30 am at Yashwantrao Chavan Centre, Mumbai where Sharad Pawar supposed to meet me. He got down from the car and immediately called me by my name. He held my hand and took me upstairs. He interacted with me for full five minutes. He admired my calculated plan when I revealed to him how I contested the elections. He recollected the memory of my late father former Minister Govindrao Wanjari. My father had took out Dindi Yatra in support of Pawar. I observed his every action and I felt there is lot to learn from him,” narrated Adv Wanjari.
