Nagpur district has witnessed torrent of coronavirus cases on Wednesday as 1,179 persons tested positive for this dreaded virus in one single day. The district crossed 1,000 mark after months. Number of new cases in Nagpur rural also crossed 200 mark after over 6 months as 224 tested positive for coronavirus. Nagpur city reported huge 955 new cases taking the cumulative number to 1,44,783. Number of testing in one single day too is increasing. On Wednesday also 10,584 testing registered.

 

 

 

Nagpur rural witnessed 4,110 testing while city registered 6,474 testing. This has taken the cumulative testing number to 11,97,789. Number of recoveries is constantly crossing 400 mark. On Wednesday too 455 became corona-free but still the recovery is low as compared to persons testing COVID 19 positive. This is evident from the fact that recovery rate is registering constant dip. Today’s COVID 19 recovery rate was 92.12%. Low recovery is resulting in rise in active cases. On Wednesday the active cases rose to 7,184. Number of COVID 19 deaths too has increased to 8 taking the cumulative death count to 3,550. Nagpur rural is witnessing single or zero death and Wednesday was no exception. But city’s death count increased to 7 in one single day.

 

 

The samples examined through RT PCR were 7,366 while 3,218 were through Rapid Antigen Test. Apart from the samples of Nagpur district, the people from Nagpur and out of city approached various laboratories in Nagpur to get themselves examined. The samples came for examination at various laboratories in Nagpur include virology laboratory of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) (1,344), Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) (1,227), molecular diagnostic laboratory of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) (757), National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) (247), Centre for Zoonosis, Nagpur Veterinary College affiliated to Maharashtra Animal Fisheries Sciences University (MAFSU) (0), Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) (479) private laboratories (3,312), Antigen (3,217).
