To tackle the spike in COVID-19 cases in city, civic administration is now in action mode and resorting to locking down establishments where there is a major spurt. While tagging residential areas as containment zones can be understood, however the sealing of commercial and institutional areas is however a bit tough action, the citizens have said. As of now 22 residential, commercial and institutional areas have been declared as containment zones and highest are in Laxmi Nagar Zone-I of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC). Strangely, the hyper active civic squad have even sealed Dr Ambedkar College after 16 staffers were found positive.

 

Not content, even Kingsway Branch of State Bank of India was sealed two days back and one does not know for how long the lockdown is meant. In case, banks too are put under lock and key for a prolonged period it is going to hit hard the citizens and customers. During the first phase of COVID-19 administration used to shutdown commercial establishment for a short period and post fumigation of premises same were allowed to reopen. But in push for containing the spread of virus, NMC officials are resorting to sealing that is quite questionable since once the area is fumigated what's the purpose of sealing the establishments. In banking sector, even headquarters of Tirupati Bank at Shradhanandpeth was sealed post surfacing of positive patients.

 

As per the list provided by NMC at Laxmi Nagar Zone the areas listed in containment zones includes Indraprastha Layout, Swalambi Nagar, Pizza Hut, Bajaj Nagar, Pioneer Tulip, Jaitala, Ankur Apartment, Jaiprakash Nagar, Laxmi Keshav Apartment, RPTS Road, Laxmi Nagar, Tatya Tope Nagar (Anand Nagar), Rajiv Nagar, Shreyas Sai Apartment, Saraswati Vihar, Tirupati Co-operative Bank, Bajaj Nagar, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar College, Deekshabhoomi, Sanchayani Prestige Apartment, Poonam Vihar. In Dharampeth Zone the area sealed include Pandhrabodi, Sai Mangal Apartment, Giripeth, Park Que Building, Farmland, Ramdaspeth.

 

At Hanuman Nagar Zone- a house in Ladikar Layout and another residence in Govind Prabhu Nagar, Rajapeth. Under Dhantoli Zone, Tata Capital Height, Tower 4 is sealed and Arihant Apartment. In Nehru Nagar Swami Narayan Enclave, Sadashiv Nagar, Wathoda. The Gandhibagh and Satranjipura Zone that were hardest hit in first phase of COVID-19 however has not containment zone as of now. At Lakadganj Zone the upscale Navedyam Eastoria Mangal Karyalay on Kalamna Road was sealed. In Mangalwari Zone, Gopala Apartment, Clark Town, Mecosabagh, and SBI, Kingsway, near Railway station, is sealed.
