A total 121 mobile phone owners were pleasantly surprised when they received a phone call from a police official of Nagpur Rural Police, informing that their mobile phone, which was missing for last few months, have been traced. Superintendent of Police (SP) Nagpur Rural Rakesh Ola handed over the mobile phone to the owners in a function held at SP office, Civil Lines, on Wednesday.
 
A police officials said that the mobile phones worth around Rs 25 lakh were missing or stolen from the district in past one year. The Local Crime Branch of and Cyber Cell traced the mobile phones with IMEI number and recovered it. The owners were happy after receiving their mobile phones. Under the guidance of SP Rakesh Ola, Addl SP Rahul Maknikar, DySP Home Sanjay Purandare, the action was done by Sr. PIs Rajendra Nikam, PI LCB Anil Jittawar, PS Javed Sheikh and staff including Snehalata Dhawale, Varsha Khandait, Satish Rathod, Yogesh Rajgire, Sumedh Tayde, Sachin Bhoyar, Mrunal Raut, API Jitendra Vairagade, PSI Narendra Gaurkhede and others.
 
How police recover missing mobile phone The police ask for IMEI number which has unique identification of mobile number. The police then share the IMEI number with service providers for ascertaining the user details of the number on which the handset is activated subsequent to the theft. The investigating official work upon the IMEI numbers of stolen phones in order to trace them. The Investigating officer recovers the information through the service provider if any new SIM is inserted in the handset. The police officer visit the location through the tracker. Get hold of the suspect using the handset.
