Cops seal marriage lawn in New Kamptee for violating COVID-19 protocols

SPECIAL Squad of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-V) Neelotpal sealed Raj Royal Lawns, New Yerkheda, in New Kamptee area where two wedding receptions were organised in gross violation of COVID-19 protocols. Cops booked lawn owner, fathers of bridegroom and bride on Wednesday night.
 
The accused have been identified as lawn owner Surendrasingh Gurudatta Singh (55), a resident of 1622, Vaishali Nagar, father of bridegroom Mohammad Aslam Mohammad Siddiqui (55), a resident of Sangharash Nagar, bride’s father Sheikh Nisar (50), a resident of Lodhipura and second bride’s father Shaukat Ali (52), a resident of Koradi Road. Deputy Commissioner (Zone V) Neelotpal received information that two wedding ceremonies were going on at Raj Royal Lawn and were being attended by more than 1,500 guests. Neelotpal sent his Special Squad comprising API Vijay Bhise, NPC Chetan Jadhav, PC Ravindra Raut, PC Dinesh Yadav, PC Suraj Bharti, and PC Harish Ingale to the venue to verify the information.
 
Two wedding receptions were being attended by more than 1,500 people at 9 pm grossly violating the upper limit of 50 guests and not following COVID-19 guidelines. Guests were not using face masks and sanitisers. They flouted social distancing norms and other government guidelines issued from time to time. Immediately, a team of New Kamptee Police led by PI (Crime) Radheshyam Pal was called for assistance. Lawn owner and fathers of bridegroom and bride were taken into custody. New Kamptee Police registered a case under Sections 188, 269, 270 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 2, 3 and 4 Epidemic Diseases Act was registered against them. Neelotpal then personally visited the lawns. He discussed the matter with the District Collector. Tehsildar (Kamptee) Arvind Hinge was also called to the spot who sealed the lawns prohibiting any gathering till further orders.
