Woman loses her legs after coming under train at railway stn, dies at hospital

In a tragic incident at on platform no 1 of Nagpur Railway Station, a woman came under the rolling train and lost both legs, on Thursday morning. The victim, Pushpamala Sudhakar Ote (52), was rushed to Mayo Hospital where she succumbed to injuries during the treatment. According to an eyewitness, Ote came under Train No. 0721 Hyderabad-Hazrat Nizamuddin. The incident occurred around 9.10 am when Pushpamala tried to board the moving train. Her hurry, however, proved fatal. She lost grip on the bogie’s handle and with train momentum was dragged and through the gap in platform fell on the tracks.
 
As the train rolled over, her legs were cut off from knee. Hiralal Kamdhare and Rajin Mohare who were polishing boots on platform No. 1 were horrified at the sight of the woman slipping under the train. They were the first to respond and pulled out the woman form under the train even as blood was oozing rapidly. The incident was reported to Deputy Station Manager (Commercial) who relayed a message to Divisional Railway Hospital and arranged for an ambulance. Pushpamala, who was slipping into coma, was immediately rushed to Mayo Hospital for treatment. But the railway police informed that she died during treatment at the hospital. Ote was earlier dropped at the railway station by her husband who went ahead for his office. The woman was proceeding to Pandhurna to her native place for some family function and was to board in coach no. D-1.
 
Two children run over by locomotive

Two children were run over by a locomotive on railway track near Faras ghat, near Mankapur, on Thursday night. One child received injuries in the mishap. The children as per primary information are reported to be minor and strayed onto Delhi line late night when they came under the train. Staff from Mankapur and Koradi police station and a team of Railway Protection Force (RPF) visited the spot on receiving information. Cops after spot panchanama sent the bodies to Mayo Hospital for autopsy.
 
As per primary reports, the exact spot where the run over took place is adjacent to Nirmal Colony at Om Nagar, in Zingabai Takli. The incident occurred around 10.30 pm. One of the deceased is identified as Kadbe and he is aged around 19 years while details of the other child is not known. The sources said the two children who got run over used to hang around the spot almost daily with some addicts. The cops are probing the matter further.
