Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and former Chief Minister Kamal Nath exchanged sharp barbs against each other when former was concluding discussion on Governor’s address in Madhya Pradesh Assembly on Friday.
 
CM Chouhan also spoke about collapse of Kamal Nath Government by citing that it collapsed as it had not fulfilled the promises, including waiver of farmers’ loan, and then Kamal Nath did not have time to meet MLAs and ministers.
He also countered charges of Opposition on fuel price issue by saying that when Congress government came to power, it imposed additional VAT of Rs 2 on diesel in July 2019. Likewise in July 2019, then Congress Government increased additional VAT of Rs 2 on petrol to Rs 3.5 and in September 2019, VAT was increased to 33 per cent from 28 per cent. BJP Government reduced the additional VAT.
 
He claimed that BJP Government took State on prosperous path by making many schemes, including river link and increasing irrigation area. Security of girls is priority of Government. In 74 cases of crime against girls, courts of State have awarded death sentence.
 
He told the House that on one hand then Congress Government failed to waive off farmers’ loan and on the other, BJP Government deposited enough money into the accounts of farmers and people that also during corona period. Work is being done on Atmanirbhar Madhya Pradesh and in coming years, no poor will be devoid of houses.
Under anti-Mafia drive, 3,300 acre land has been freed from 1500 land Mafias and action has been also taken against chit fund companies.
 
Women self-help groups are being strengthened and Rs 1,150 crore have been deposited into their accounts through the help of banks. Rs 10,000 each has been given to two lakh street vendors for self-employment.
