Over 800 healthcare workers get 2nd dose of vaccine

More than 800 healthcare workers (HCWs) were given second dose of COVID-19 vaccine in State capital on Friday.
After completion of phase-1 of immunisation of healthcare workers and frontline workers (FLWs) including doctors, sanitation workers, nurses, ward boys, jabs of second dose are being given to HCWs. More than 9,000 people have been fully vaccinated against coronavirus in past two days in the district. Presently, inoculation drive is operational at 34 centres in Bhopal.
 
In Bhopal, in the first phase of vaccination being done on the instructions of the Central Government, more than 71 per cent of the target has been achieved. Of 68,063 beneficiaries registered in phase-1 of the drive, 48,862 have been vaccinated, ergo, achieving 71.8 per cent of the target.
 
Out of 33,871 targeted healthcare workers in Bhopal, 24611 people have been vaccinated which is 72.7% of the target. Similarly, out of 34,192, 24,251 front line workers have been vaccinated which is 70.9% of the target. The 28-day second phase of vaccination of healthcare workers has begun, under which 24,611 corona warriors will be vaccinated in at 24 centres in the district. District Immunisation Officer Dr Kamlesh Ahirwar said that all the beneficiaries are being informed about their turn to get vaccinated through an SMS. The beneficiary will develop Immunity against coronavirus within 14 days of vaccination.
 
Dr Ahirwar also advised the people to follow COVID-19 guidelines even after getting vaccinated, which include wearing a face mask, following social distance and regularly sanitising hands. After completion of this, second dose of the vaccine will be given to the Frontline Workers.
